Tips for parents:
Praise the effort not the result.
Say: great training instead of great performance.
Encourage failure.
Ask: how did you fail today and what did you learn about it?
Teach them to tell time and manage it. Put clocks in their rooms.
Schedule outdoor time.
Let them get bored …. please! Boredom is the precursor to creativity. Give them unstructured play time. Give them access to stuff that can play with and create things with…. like tapes and garbage bags and scrap paper.
Have family meetings! Teach them democracy and a way to participate in decision making.
Skills employers say that new graduates are lacking. Check them out. Yes google it.
