“What’s the last book that you read?”
The first question Howard Shultz, CEO of Starbucks would ask on a job interview.
“If the person can’t answer that question right away, that tells me something”.

The thing about learning is that you wouldn’t know its value or how much you need it till you take it and go through with it.
Your judgement is impaired by ignorance prior to learning something, so how can you rely on it?!
That’s why kids hate school 😂

We really don’t need a president nor mass voting. We need a technocratic council of specialized department heads each voted in by his/her correspondent association of experts. The idea of President is very 20th century, and the idea of voting is so 19th century.

Massacre of May 6 1916 by Jamal Pasha
Yesterday, on May 6, 1916, Jamal Pasha, a CUP Ottoman leader and a dedicated Pan-Islamist, and a Turkish Supremacist, executed 21 Arabs who were mostly members of Alfatat secret organization that was planning for Arab independence and Arab state. He got their names from a secret dossier hidden in the wall seized from the French consulate in Beirut in January of 1915. Earlier, he hanged 11 of them on August 21, 1915 in burj Square, named after as Martyr Square in Beirut.
These were leaders in literature and political life of Arabs. This happened after Jamal called in Faisal to interrogate him. Faisal kept visiting Jamal afterwards to ask for clemency for those in custody but Jamal carried on the executions disregarding Arab sentiments, and humiliating Faisal who gave his word to many families of those in custody.
When Faisal heard of the executions, he “leapt to his feet and tearing his kufiya (Arab headgear) from his head, flung it down and trampled on it savagely with a cry of: “tab almaut ya Arab” meaning “death has become sweet O Arabs”!
That finalized the decision to wage the Arab revolt which took place on JUNE 10 1916.
Unfortunately , at the same time Britain welcomed it and supported it with few mediocre weapons, and money and some intelligence, they had already agreed with France on finalizing the colonization plans of the Arab world in what came to be known as Sykis Picot agreement in January of 1916. Kept secret till the Russian Bolshevik revolution made it public by late 1917-1918.
Arabs then fell under colonialism after achieving the beginning of their dream after 19 years of planning (1901-1920) and 4 years of fierce heroic fighting (1916-1920).
The Arab Flag was raised over Beirut for 9 days.
These are the last 9 days we were independent.
Bill Gates Think Week
Bill Gates started taking “Think Weeks” back in the 90s to help him think and process. He used to call them CPU time. CPU is the central processing unit of a computer and it takes time to process data. That time is very short for computers but Bill Gates needed a week to process data and think about new ideas. He would read an average of 17 books during these think weeks.
He would go to a cabin on a lake, with a pen and paper and Diet Coke, no electronics other than occasionally. Here are some photos I took off a documentary on Netflix titled: Inside Bill’s Brain.
