The corona virus has revealed all the hidden ignorances that we have, from health care, to conspiracy theories, to mask frenzy, to pseudo medicine, to religious superstition.

The job of journalism is to piss off governments and people in power. Once they don’t, they are not journalism anymore.

Religion deals with soul of individual and of society and has nothing to do with disease or science. Stop looking for answers about viruses in religion. The answers are only in labs.

When the issue is a virus, everyone follows the direction of the scientist, including the Pope and the Ayatullah.

“I realized that intercepted nudes were a kind of informal office currency…. the unspoken transactional rule seemed to be that if you found a naked photo or video of an attractive target [surveilled person] – or someone in communication with a target – you had to show the rest of the boys, at least as long as there wasn’t any women around.

That was how you knew you could trust each other: you had shared in one another’s crimes.”

Arabs had no choices or voices for the last 500 years, and every time they try to speak up, they are crushed. It changed their DNA to self suppression now.

نحن العرب لم نختر شيئاً لانفسنا منذ ٥٠٠ سنة. و كلما حاولنا، قُمعنا، الئ درجة ان القمع اصبح جزءاً من جيناتنا.

I haven’t chosen to be labeled as the French colonials chose for me: Lebanese, to grow up in Abu Dhabi, to seek asylum in Canada, or to immigrate to the US. I was forced to. I haven’t made any self determination yet. So are most of the Arabs.

When are you going to start make your own decisions?

متى سوف تبدأ لأن تقرر مصيرك لنفسك؟

If you have noticed, there is a phenomenon in the pronunciations of Arab American youth in Dearborn which is extending the vowels, almost obnoxiously, when using exclamations.

I don’t know where that came from, but perhaps from the extension of Arabic vowels in the slang of Southern Lebanon villages, which is the founding majority of Arabs in Dearborn.

To delete a document out of history, you need to destroy all its copies, delete all the people that know it, delete all the other documents that mention it, then delete all the people that know those other documents.

I might not agree with many of the ideologies of Bernie Sanders. I lean more Republican in fiscal policy and deregulation. I love most of the Silicon Valley billionaires and believe they are the engine of our economy, future, and innovation. But most Americans and the World need Bernie right now. So I vote for the World. #bernie
